Growing Asiatic, Trumpet, and Aurelian Lilies
Immediate epigeal germination (“quick-type”).
Start seeds in spring or early summer. Plant 12 seeds per one gallon pot. Cover with 1/4” soil. Seeds can be started in a greenhouse in winter to get a jump-start on the growing season. Grow seedlings in filtered shade for the first season. Takes 2–3 years to bloom, though some Trumpet lilies will bloom in 18 months!

Asiatic Lilies
Germinate at 60–65 degrees F.
Takes 3–8 weeks.

Trumpet Lilies
Germinate at 60–70 degrees F. Takes 3–6 weeks.

Aurelian Hybrid Lilies and wide species crosses
Use this method for inter-species hybrids.
Watch the seeds closely, if during the following process a seed starts to germinate (sends out a root), plant the sprouting seed immediately.
Soak the seeds in pure water for 5 days at room temperature, changing the water daily. Next place the seeds between damp paper towels in the refrigerator for 6 weeks.
Plant 10–15 seeds 1/4" deep in a one gallon pot.
Germinate at 55–65 degrees F. Takes up to 10 weeks, some seeds may take longer.
